We love Key lime pie in the summer, but it has absolutely zero nutritional value and the only redeeming value is whatever antioxidants can be zested out of the lime. Chobani is coming out with a variety of new flavors and as luck would have it key lime is one of them. Have you tried it? It is a home run, out of the ball park, hands down winner at our house!
I analyzed the top internet recipe for Key Lime pie by Emeril Lagasse on the Food Network and found that 1 serving or 1/8 of his homemade pie contains 580 calories, 22 grams of protein, 13 grams of saturated fat, 100 mg cholesterol (4 days worth), 85 grams of carbohydrate, 77 grams of sugar (more than 8 teaspoons) and no vitamins or minerals that exceed 10% of the Daily Value. Compare that to our new refrigerator friend, Chobani Key Lime Greek Yogurt where 1 serving or 6 ounces contains only 160 calories (cut Emeril’s pie into 29 slices to match), 13 grams of protein, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 15 mg cholesterol, 21 grams of carbohydrate, 19 grams of sugar, 20% of your Daily Value for calcium, plus live active cultures of gut healthy bacteria. Emeril’s pie can’t say that!
