Ingredients:
- 6 ounce tomato paste
- 6 ounces warm water
- 1 tsp. fresh minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp. honey
- 3/4 tsp. onion powder (not onion salt)
- 1/4 tsp. dried basil
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. marjoram
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper (adds heat omit if you don’t like it hot)
- 1/8 tsp. dried red pepper (adds heat omit if you don’t like it hot)
Mix all ingredients into a sauce pan and heat for 3-5 minutes low heat.
This sauce contributes less than 10 milligrams sodium per slice compared to traditional canned sauce at 380 milligrams and 25% fewer calories per slice. Taste and tell me, did you miss the sodium? We didn’t! Remember, create a balanced plate and cover 1/2 your plate with fruits and vegetables.
