Look out sport drink fans, there’s a new beverage in town and it delivers a bold change in flavor! However if you’re relying on it for hydration in high heat, high humidity, or for endurance activities it’s quite weak on the sodium front. You would need to supplement it with a salty snack or Endurolyte tabs. I stumbled upon Body Armor when my only options were a 12 ounce kid version of a sports drink or the 32 ounce, no way I’m carrying that 18+miles! Here’s the run down on this new beverage made by Body Armor Sports Nutrition out of New York.
It’s got the millennial clean ingredient thing going for it with no artificial colors or preservatives and natural (not a regulated term) flavors and sweeteners. It’s gluten free, nut free, caffeine free and the bottle is BPA free, the later of which they all are now days. It’s top 3 ingredients are:
- Filtered water
- Cane sugar
- 10% Coconut water
Now for the comparison:

The flavor is tops along with it’s hefty potassium load, clean ingredients, no food dyes and full line up of antioxidants (Vitamin A, C and E) to neutralize free radicals and inflammation caused during extended play. However the lack of sodium leaves me weak in the knees and I do love a sports drink with just a little added protein. At this point, I think the perfect sports drink has yet to be made, but I keep looking and running!
Body Armor comes in the following 8 flavors: fruit punch, orange mango, tropical punch, strawberry banana, grape, lemon lime, mixed berry and blackout berry.
You’re certain to hear more about this electrolyte sports drink as Bodyarmour spends $25 million on its summer 2021 marketing campaign.

What an awesome review! “It’s got the millennial clean ingredient thing going for it…” Exactly what I was thinking and probably the best way to describe it! Basically a hipster sports drink!

I love it! My 32-year old son gave me some after I became dehydrated from the flu. It’s tastes great! I’m not a fan of the taste of Gatorade. I tend to have low potassium and am salt-sensitive. The drink does the trick!

It does have a nice clean flavor that is very refreshing and not unnaturally sweet.
